Both Gold and Silver have long enjoyed traditional, cultural as well as age old investment heritage in India. Possession of both have been denoted as a symbol of prosperity and add to the status of a person or family. Silver which has largely played the role of second preference when compared to gold has over the years caught up and is one of metals that have seen astronomical increases in price.
In fact both gold and silver generally grow in proportion to each other, silver prices in recent history have sky rocketed as demand for the white metal is more and silver supply seems to be dwindling very fast. Investment in silver can be considered to be good as one can purchase physical sterling silver when the markets are down and resale the same to earn good profits. Need to make a point here that silver is among those commodities that have seen an astronomical jump in its price in last five years.
However purchase and storage of physical silver can be a problem, as storing it has its own problems as silver metal tends to get blackened over time. With the opening up of the commodities market investing in in silver is even simpler as one can purchase it through the E-series product, in much smaller denominations.
This facility has provided a big boon to small time investors who now can invest in the silver metal even in minimal denominations of 100 grams. Investment experts point out that both gold and silver has historically proved to be stabilizers in times of market volatility and insist that they should be part of their portfolio.
Investors today can invest in silver through the E-trading route offered by commodities spot market. The concept of the E-series has been highly successful since launch especially with regards to E-gold and E-silver as investors have now acknowledged that it is indeed a suitable method of investment wherein simplicity, transparency, accessibility, affordability, tradability and cost effectiveness are assured.
Special mention should be added that in e-series contracts the exchange medium has been more successful where the response has been tremendous. What has really got investor attention is that now they have got a much safer route to invest in gold and silver without having to worry about purity or weight.
In my opinion both gold and silver would usher in a new dawn of investments across all investor categories, and in the near future there would less of physical consumption of both these valued metals but rather an electronic method of keeping them safe when meant for investment purposes.
