HOUSTON (AP) - Omar Strong hit seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points as Texas Southern pulled away in the second half for a 75-69 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.
Strong was 7 for 11 on 3-point attempts and did most of his damage in the second half, when he scored 22 points to help the Tigers (12-14, 11-2 Southwestern) win their seventh straight game.
Texas Southern scored the first six points after the intermission to take a 38-29 lead and increased that advantage to 13 points when Strong nailed a 3 with 10:34 remaining. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (12-14, 11-3), which had its 4-game win streak snapped, never got closer than five points the rest of the way.
Terrell Kennedy led the Golden Lions with 15 points. Davon Haynes added 13 points and nine rebounds.
Fred Sturdivant had 15 points and 14 rebounds for Texas Southern.
