You can use your Windows XP computer as a fax machine. All it takes is a simple process to set up, and you?ll be done in no time. It?s easy to be able to do, and interesting to see what Microsoft has been able to include on the system. Full fax functionality is only a step away by using the Windows XP fax.
Any person with a business or home fax machine should consider this and change over to moving their faxes onto their computer. This means that an user can get rid of their fax machine and just use their printer or scanner for transmitting documents. It?s a great space saver on the desk, and it greatly reduces the amount of technology you have to have around the office.
Almost any office manager will tell you that it can at times be almost impossible to pull a fax from a machine. Sometimes the results are not what you expected. ?Email only? is a great way to reduce the amount of faxing in a company. It also saves on paper and other needless office expenses. There will never be a time again where you?ll need to call up a customer saying ?can you please resend that fax?.
Here?s what you do: Click ?Start?, ?Control Panel?, ?Add/Remove programs?. Click ?Add/Remove Windows Components? on the left side.
The next thing you?ll need to do is make sure that the option for ?fax services? is checked off. Once you have done this, press ?next? and follow the prompts through the installer - you may be asked to put the Windows XP CD into the system tray to complete the installation.
When you want to configure the program, choose ?Start? then click on ?All Programs?, select ?Accessories?, then ?Communications?, ?Fax? and ?Fax Console?.
The fax configuration wizard will now start. When it is running, follow the steps and put any relevant information that you have available into the program. You?ll have to choose which modem to use (usually the first one that is hilighted), As well you?ll need to pick if you want your computer to be able to have the ability to send or receive faxes.
Enter the TSID information: Info that appears as a header when you send a Fax and the CSID information that is displayed on the sending fax machine. (The TSID and CSID usually consist of a fax number and business name.)
The next thing to consider is whether you want your fax machine to automatically or manually answer the calls it gets. Manual answer will mean that whenever the phone line rings, you have ot press a button on the computer to pick up the line as a fax machine. Automatically answer means that the fax service will automatically pick up any time that the line rings.
Everything is now finished with your installation! If you?re looking to send and receive faxes right away, you?ll need to open the program by choosing ?Start? then ?Accessories?, then ?Communications? and ?Fax?.
